Electrical Troubleshooting & Diagnosis in Selangor & Kuala Lumpur
We diagnose recurring trips, burnt sockets, lighting faults, wiring problems and earthing concerns using suitable electrical test instruments before recommending corrective work.
Professional electrical troubleshooting, testing and corrective work based on measured findings—not guesswork.
Every site is assessed for its operational needs, existing infrastructure and maintainability. We explain the scope clearly before installation, repair, upgrade or ongoing support.
Electrical troubleshooting
Circuit and distribution-board checks
Socket, switch and lighting faults
Voltage, current and continuity testing
Insulation and earthing assessment
Corrective work and maintenance support
Electrical fault finding
Repeated trips are a warning—not a problem to keep resetting.
Electrical faults can begin with a small symptom: one socket becomes hot, a light flickers, a breaker trips occasionally or a burning smell appears only when equipment is operating.
Resetting the breaker or replacing a component without finding the cause may allow the fault to return. MIB Smartech checks the circuit systematically, records relevant readings and identifies the most likely fault before recommending repair or replacement.
Common electrical issues
What is happening at your property?
These symptoms can have more than one cause. The affected circuit should be inspected and tested before corrective work is confirmed.
01
The breaker trips repeatedly
An MCB, RCCB or main protective device trips again after being reset.
Possible causes
Overloaded circuit or connected equipment
Short circuit or damaged wiring
Earth leakage from wiring or an appliance
A faulty or incorrectly selected protective device
02
Plug socket is burnt or melted
The socket face, plug or surrounding area shows heat damage, discolouration or a burning smell.
Possible causes
Loose terminal creating excessive heat
Overloaded socket or extension lead
Damaged plug top or poor contact
Worn internal socket contacts
03
Switching on one light causes a blackout
A lighting switch causes part or all of the property to lose power.
Possible causes
Short circuit in the light fitting or cable
Incorrect or damaged switch wiring
Moisture inside the fitting or connection point
Faulty driver, ballast or connected lighting equipment
04
Lights flicker or become dim
Lighting brightness changes, flickers or becomes unstable during normal use.
Possible causes
Loose neutral or supply connection
Unstable voltage or overloaded circuit
Faulty light fitting, driver or switch
Poor connection at the distribution board
05
Socket or switch feels hot
A socket, isolator or switch becomes warmer than expected during operation.
Possible causes
Loose or high-resistance connection
Load exceeds the accessory rating
Damaged internal contact
Incorrect cable size or termination
06
Electrical shock or tingling sensation
A person feels a mild shock when touching an appliance, metal body or fitting.
Possible causes
Earth leakage or insulation breakdown
Missing or ineffective protective earthing
Damaged appliance cable or internal component
Incorrect polarity or wiring connection
07
Breaker cannot be reset
The protective device trips immediately or will not remain in the ON position.
Possible causes
An active short circuit or earth fault
Faulty connected appliance or equipment
Damaged circuit cable
Defective protective device
08
Buzzing sound or burning smell
Unusual noise or odour appears at a distribution board, socket, switch or fitting.
Possible causes
Loose connection or electrical arcing
Overheating cable or accessory
Failing contactor, relay or protective device
Overload or damaged insulation
Measured diagnosis
We troubleshoot with test instruments—not assumptions.
A visible burn mark may show where the damage appeared, but not always why it happened. Testing helps us trace the fault across the supply, protective device, circuit, connection point and connected load.

Diagnostic equipment
Different readings answer different questions.
The exact instruments used depend on the symptom, circuit condition and safe access available during the visit.
01
Clamp Meter
Measures load current without disconnecting the conductor. Depending on the instrument and test method, its meter functions can also be used to verify voltage and other electrical values.
02
Continuity Meter
Checks whether a de-energised conductor or connection has a continuous path and helps identify open circuits, incorrect connections or suspected shorts.
03
Insulation Resistance Tester
Applies a controlled test voltage to assess insulation resistance between conductors and earth, helping identify deterioration, moisture or leakage risk.
04
Earth Tester
Measures the resistance of the earthing or grounding system using the suitable test method, helping determine whether the protective earth path requires attention.
05
Digital Multimeter
Verifies values such as AC/DC voltage, resistance and continuity during systematic fault isolation.
06
RCD / Socket Testing
Where applicable, checks socket wiring conditions and protective-device operation as part of the wider diagnosis.
Troubleshooting scope
From the symptom to a practical corrective action.
We support homes, offices, shops and selected commercial premises across Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley.
Trace loss of supply, overheating, loose connections, damaged accessories and wiring concerns.
Lighting problems
Investigate flickering, repeated failure, partial blackout and faults involving switches, fittings or drivers.
Wiring & earthing concerns
Assess continuity, insulation condition and protective earthing where the site condition requires testing.
Safety first
Do not keep resetting a breaker that trips repeatedly.
If there is smoke, active sparking, a strong burning smell, exposed live parts or a shock risk, stop using the affected equipment, keep people away and isolate the supply only if it is safe to do so. Arrange an urgent inspection by a competent electrical person.
